Chéticamp Campground is located on the western coast of Cape Breton Island in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. It is one of three full-service campgrounds in the park with potable water, hot showers, kitchen shelters, and dishwashing stations. Chéticamp Campground makes a great base camp for anyone roadtripping on the world-famous Cabot Trail. It is just a few miles from the bustling town of Chéticamp (one of the biggest towns on the island), and it is not far from the iconic Skyline Trail, which is a must-hike for anyone visiting Cape Breton.

The town of Chéticamp makes up the largest Francophone enclave on Cape Breton Island. Many of the 4,000 residents are Acadian, descendants of French colonists who settled the area in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Of the three campgrounds within Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Chéticamp Campground is the most family friendly, with a large playground, outdoor theater, visitor center (with Wi-Fi), and easy hiking trails. There are 122 sites, most of which have barbecues. Twenty-four sites have water, electricity, and sewer hookups, and 12 more have electricity only. As in most national park campgrounds in Canada, Chéticamp provides kitchen shelters for cooking indoors and dishwashing stations with sinks and hot and cold water. Hot showers are provided free of charge.

There are three distinct areas for camping in Chéticamp. Meadow camping offers little privacy but plenty of sunshine. These sites are also very close to the visitor center, washrooms, and playground. Woodland sites are shady and much more private than the open sites. Full-hookup RV sites are in the open and very close together.

Two unique campsite experiences include 10 oTENTik sites and five equipped camping sites. The oTENTiks are tent cabins that include bunks for six people, a propane grill, Adirondack chairs, and an outdoor table. Equipped camping is a ready-to-go campsite complete with a tent and cooking gear.
