Amphitheater Campground is a fantastic campground located high above the small town of Ouray, Colorado. There are stunning views to be had from the campground, and the convenient location provides easy access to town and the many outdoor attractions around.

The campground is named after the natural rock amphitheater here that was created by ancient volcanic and glacial activity.

Note that Amphitheater Campground is best suited for smaller rigs. Tent campers or vans work best, but some sites can accommodate smaller trailers or RVs (total length not to exceed 35 feet).

There are a total of 35 campsites at Amphitheater Campground. Is is a popular spot, and reservations can be made in advance online at recreation.gov.

At each site you’ll find a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are also provided within the campground.

Open and closing dates depend on weather, but the campground is typically open early June through September.
