Bear Creek, High Drive, and Captain Jack's Loop is a moderately challenging hike located in Bear Creek Cañon Park near Colorado Springs. This loop explores the park while encircling Mount Buckhorn. This hike is 6.1 miles long and gains 1,627 feet of elevation.

This hike starts from Ring The Peak Portal 10 parking area. There are no amenities at the trailhead. Begin hiking southwest on High Drive. This is a wide trail that travels amongst trees and parallel to Bear Creek. You will be hiking uphill. After 0.8 miles, you will encounter a junction and go left. you will come to a second junction after 0.2 more miles. Go left here to stay on High Drive. This is where the loop begins. The trail begins to switch back up the hill now. As you continue uphill, you are rewarded with views of Bear Creek Cañon. After another 1.5 miles, you will reach a saddle between Mount Buckhorn and Mays Peak. There is also a junction here. Turn right onto Captain Jack's Trail. 

Continue hiking uphill on Captain Jack's Trail. After 0.7 miles, you will reach the highest point of this loop and begin hiking downhill. Another 0.2 miles, you will come to a junction and turn right to stay on Captain Jack's Trail. Stay on this trail for 0.5 miles before turning right onto Bear Creek Trail. The trail is lined with coniferous trees. Continue downhill as the trail runs parallel to Bear Creek. After 1.3 miles, you will reach a junction. This completes the loop. Turn left onto High Drive and follow it back to the parking area.

Bear Creek Cañon Park is open for hiking year round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must be on a leash at all times.
