Blackmer and Boulder Run Loop is a moderately challenging hike located in Cheyenne Mountain State Park near Colorado Springs. This hike explores some of the northern section of the park. This figure 8 loop is 4.5 miles long and gains 511 feet of elevation.

This hike starts from the campers services parking lot. There are restrooms available here. Begin hiking west towards JL Ranch Heights Rd. Once you reach the road, begin hiking southwest along the road. After 0.3 miles, turn right onto Boulder Run Trail. After 0.2 more miles, you will reach another junction. Turn right here. Another 0.1 miles will bring you to the start of the first loop. Go right onto Blackmer Loop. You will be hiking uphill amongst coniferous trees. As you hike, you will have periodic views of Cheyenne Mountain to the west and the city of Colorado Springs to the east. After 0.4 miles on this trail, you will encounter a junction. Go left here to stay on Blackmer Loop. After 0.8 miles you will reach another junction and turn left. This is also the highest point of the trail. Continue downhill on Blackmer Loop.

As you hike down the trail, you will notice multiple benches and informational signs along the trail. After 1.4 miles, you will come to a junction and turn left. You will now be hiking uphill again.0.7 miles down the trail, you will complete this loop and turn right onto Boulder Run Trail. Follow the Boulder Run Trail for 0.2 miles before crossing the road to hike on Racoon Ridge Trail. Follow this trail for 0.5 miles to return to the parking area. 

Cheyenne Mountain State Park is open year round from 5am-10pm. There is a daily vehicle fee of $10 to enter the park. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must be on a leash at all times.
