Iron Spring is located within a small park area in downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Note that Iron Spring and the other springs in the area are not hot springs for soaking. If you want to soak check out nearby Hippie Hot Springs, Old Town Hot Springs, or Strawberry Park Hot Springs.

Iron Spring is unique to Steamboat’s springs as it has high levels of iron that none of the other springs do. This is because it is fed by groundwater that flows through a sedimentary rock layer rich in oxidized iron. Iron Spring also contains very low levels of sulphur.

This spring was a favorite of the Crawfords (Steamboat’s founding family). Their homestead was built just above the spring, and they enjoyed making lemonade with its carbonated water. Note that drinking from the spring today is not advised.
