Molas Lake Campground is located just off Highway 550 (the “Million Dollar Highway”) near the charming small town of Silverton, Colorado. Its stunningly beautiful location near the Weminuche Wilderness and West Needle Mountains make it a very popular campground. If planning on staying here, it is recommended to make your reservations in advance, especially if looking to secure a lakeside campsite.

Recreational opportunities abound near Molas Lake. Of course there is the 25 acre lake itself which is open to non-motorized boating and paddling, as well as fishing. The campground has kayaks and SUPs available to rent. Hiking is another popular activity with easy access to the Colorado Trail which leads down to the Animas River and further up into the rugged Elk Creek Canyon.

Molas Lake Campground offers a variety of different campsites. The “Lake-View Ultra RV” campsites sit on a hill overlooking Molas Lake with spectacular views looking east into the San Juan Mountains. The “Premium Water View” sites are the next best with each site having a lake view. There are also your standard campsites (most don’t have a great view), walk-in tent sites, and ADA-accessable sites. Rates vary from $25-$45 depending on site selected.

There are no hookups available at Molas Lake Campground. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets, and hot showers. There is also a small campground store.
