Mount Flora is a popular and relatively straightforward hike near the town of Winter Park, Colorado. You’ll begin by parking at the Berthoud Pass Trailhead, off Highway 40. This large trailhead also has a nice warming shelter with restrooms.

The trail then follows a service road as it gently ascends. The road will make a couple switchbacks, then come to a junction. At this signed junction you’ll want to continue straight onto the singletrack trail (the Mount Flora/Continental Divide Trail). Alternatively, if you wish to also bag Colorado Mines Peak, you could continue to follow the road to the summit, then descend to the Mount Flora Trail - something that would add only a bit of extra elevation gain.

Assuming you choose the Mount Flora Trail, you’ll skirt around Colorado Mines Peak, climb steeply and gain a ridge. The reminder of the trail follows this ridge with scenic views in all directions. You’ll soon reach the large, flat, rocky summit of Mount Flora. Be sure to explore around, checking out the fantastic views down toward Ethel Lake.

Once you’ve had enough fun on the summit, return the way you came back to the trailhead, or further explore by following the ridge to Mount Eva or beyond.
