Prospect Lake Loop is a short and easy hike located at Memorial Park near Colorado Springs. This hike travels around Prospect Lake. This loop is 1.3 miles long and gains less than 30 feet of elevation.

This hike starts from the Fishing Access Parking lot off of Memorial Dr. There are bathrooms and a playground here. Begin hiking northwest on a paved path near the shore of Prospect Lake. Along the trail, you will pass many benches and picnic tables. You will also have views of various Front Range peaks. After 0.3 miles, the trail will turn left. Here, you will have views of Prospect Lake to your right and Pikes Peak to your right. Continue on the flat path for 0.1 more miles before the trail turns left again.

Here, you will pass by the Prospect Lake Boat House and Boat Ramp. Continue hiking southeast near the lakeshore. You will then pass some basketball courts. After 0.2 miles you will hike past Prospect Lake Beach. Another 0.2 miles will bring you to another playground and parking lot. Continue for 0.1 miles and follow the trail as it turns left. Here, you will once again enjoy wonderful views of Pikes Peak and Prospect Lake. Hike between the lakeshore and Prospect Lake Dr for 0.2 miles before following the trail left one more time. Another 0.1 miles of hiking along the eastern shore will bring you back to the playground. Walk past the playground to return to the parking lot.

Memorial Park is open for hiking year-round from 5am to 9pm in the winter (November 1 to April 30) and from 5am to 10pm in the summer (May 1 to October 31). There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must be on a leash.
