Saint Peter's Dome Trail is a short trail located in the Pike National Forest near Colorado Springs, Colorado. This trail travels to an overlook on Saint Peter's Dome. This out and back hike is 1.2 miles long and gains 337 feet of elevation. This adventure also includes a short

This hike starts from a small parking area off of Gold Camp Road. There are no amenities at the trailhead. Begin hiking on Saint Peter's Dome Trail. You will be able to see the dome as you start hiking. The first 0.1 miles of the trail is relatively flat. After this, you will be hiking slightly uphill amongst coniferous trees. Be watchful of your step, as the trail can be rocky at times. As you hike along the trail, you will have periodic views of mountains to the east. After another 0.2 miles, the trail reaches its furthest north point and begins heading south. The trail flattens for a bit here.

After 0.1 miles, the trail begins to head uphill again. Here, you will also encounter a short section of rock scrambling. There is a rope hanging here to assist with the scramble. Keep in mind that this section will also have to be completed on the way down. Climb at your own risk. After you have completed the short scramble, the trail continues uphill among rocky terrain. Another 0.1 miles will bring you to an overlook on the northeast end of the dome. From here, you will have views of Mount Rosa, Stove Mountain, and various other peaks. You will also have a view of the city of Colorado Springs. Once you have taken ample time to rest and take in the views, turn around and retrace your steps to return to the trailhead.

Pike National Forest is open for hiking year round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must be on a leash at all times.
