The Sundance Loop is a moderately challenging hike located in Cheyenne Mountain State Park near Colorado Springs. This trail explores the Southeast corner of the park. This loop is 4.2 miles long and gains 390 feet of elevation.

This hike starts from the Limekiln Trailhead. There are bathrooms and a small playground here. Begin hiking west on Zook Loop. After 0.3 miles, you will turn right onto Medicine Wheel. You will be hiking uphill. Along this trail, you will enjoy periodic views of Cheyenne Mountain as you hike amongst trees. After another 0.4 miles, turn left to stay on Medicine Wheel. You will be hiking downhill for 0.1 miles before turning right onto Zook Loop. Continue downhill for 0.4 miles before turning right onto Sundance Loop. Turn right at the next junction after 0.1 miles. You will now be trekking uphill. Take another right after 0.1 miles. The trail opens up a bit here and you will have views down into a grassy valley.

After 0.8 miles of uphill hiking, you will reach the highest point of this loop and begin hiking mostly downhill. Another 0.2 miles will bring you to a junction. Turn left here onto Talon Trail. After another 0.1 miles, turn right onto Sundance Loop. Continue hiking downhill amongst trees. After 0.4 miles. turn left to stay on Sundance Loop.Turn left again after 0.2 miles.You will still be on Sundance Loop, but the trail begins to open up and offer great views of Cheyenne Mountain. Follow this trail all the way back to the parking area to complete the loop.

Cheyenne Mountain State Park is open year round from 5am-10pm. There is a daily vehicle fee of $10 to enter the park. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must be on a leash at all times.
