Tubing the Yampa River is a popular Steamboat summertime activity, both with locals and tourists alike. The float can be as short or long as you desire, with trip lengths from 1-3 hours possible (a popular float is from Fetcher Park to the James Brown Bridge). There are a variety of put in and take out spots, and visitors can plan ahead to use the free town bus system to get back upstream after their float.

The tubing season usually runs from June through August. Generally you’ll want to wait until water levels are below 700 cubic feet per second, as levels above are not safe for tubing. It is also possible that water levels may drop too low for tubing come late summer.

As you tube the Yampa there are many stops along the way such as parks, restaurants, bars and the must-stop Hippie Hot Springs.

There are also tubing outfitters in town if you need a rental or help with shuttle logistics.
