This sight practically slaps you in the face the second you walk through Entrance 1. Veliki Slap cascades in the background.

Looking up the chain of the Lower Lakes from the Vidikovak Sightseeing Point, a must-stop photo-op for that "postcard" photo.

The spectacular Veliki Slap standing at 78 meters tall, making it the tallest (by far!) waterfall in the park.

The "floating" boadwalk at the bottom of Superla Cave. Look into the deep turquoise waters to see lots of trout swimming around.

The song "Don't Go Chasing Waterfalls" has no place in Plitviče!

From an above vantage point, you can view the stunning boardwalk that comes right out of the bottom funnel of Superla Cave. This is one of the most unique and interesting parts of the park.

You'll find helpful signs such as this all over the park, telling the the names and heights of lakes and waterfalls, as well as a directional arrow to tell you where you are in the chain.

Another great view of the Lower Lakes, specifically of Slapovi Milke Trnine waterfall pouring out of Kozjak Lake.

The Upper Lakes trails meander through miles of tight trees, giving it a drastically different feel from the open and dramatic Lower Lakes.

Even in the dead months of spring in which the trees are not yet leafed out, hiking through Plitviče still manages to feel like somewhat of a jungle oasis.

Believe it or not, this is a low traffic day in spring. In the peak season summer months, these boardwalks are completely packed. It is definitely recommended to go in the off season so as to fully enjoy the park!

The dead spring trees may not be quite as spectacular as the vivid greens of summer, but it sure makes the water stand out more!
