Right away, you'l find yourself with spectacular views such as this as you make your way along the very walls of the Prielom Hornádu Canyon itself.

Prielom Hornádu Canyon is rich and humid, providing an excellent environment for plants to grow lush and green.

You won't find any safety railings here, just an inner chain to help steady yourself. Hike here at your own risk!

Don't think because you're going along a manmade path over the river that the hiking is all easygoing. You'll still gain a fair bit of elevation as the grates climb up and down like stairs.

A typical view down through the open grates into the blue waters of the river. Really amazing... if you aren't afraid of heights, that is.

The integrity of the metal trail grates and bolts seemed sturdy enough when we were there. Some are definitely older than others, but they seem to be well maintained and replaced appropriately.

Not all the bridges are metal; a handful of them are wooden as well!

The walls of Prielom Hornádu Canyon are composed mostly of limestone, which is easily carved and rebuilt by moving water. In some places, if you look hard enough through dense summer foliage, you can see some of the 300 caves that line the canyon walls.

Look for the colored signs painted on trees to mark your path. For the most part, the Prielom Hornádu Trail follows the blue markers.

Sunshine and good times in the paradise that is Slovak Paradise. The only thing we could have done without in this warm and muggy canyon were the bugs that were happy to feast on us. Bring bug spray!
