The hike starts by leading you across some ramshackle wooden docks suspended above the beautiful blue waters of Lake Atitlan.

These wooden docks looks (and feel, for that matter) quite unstable, but choose your footing mindfully and you'll be fine.

This beginning of the hike will take you briefly past stunning sights of Lake Atitlan's shore.

It's an easy scramble to the top of Las Cascadas Perdidas, at least at the end of summer during the dry season. Just below the falls, there are some small pools of water perfect for a cool dip to relieve the heat.

Lots of tropical plants and edible fruits can be found up the Rio Pashputin Valley, like these unfortunately not-quite-ripe bananas.
