In clearer weather, the views are much better. You climb gently out of the lodgepole pines along wide well-worn trail.

Eventually the trail begins to separate. There is a better trail heading right where the horses go or a narrower trail along the moraine.

This trail is doable in winter with snowshoes or microspikes. However, there are multiple slide zones that, while mostly avoidable, require AST Level 1 training to identify. An avalanche rescue kit is necessary as well.
