From the launch point, head as close to the pylons as you can get. Rounding this corner is one of the more dangerous sections as boats come ripping through the fairly narrow channel.

Tofino Harbour is quite a sight. A dappling of islands with big sandbars makes this busy harbor a bustling scene to observe. But when you are on the water, it's downright chaotic.

The launch area is a boat ramp that is on a sharp turn to make it impossible for trailers. This ensures that it's only for paddlers. There are several picnic benches and good grass for laying out fragile boats.

As you work your way around, there is an excellent beach just adjacent to Schindler Point on Mearse Island.

Crossing back to Tofino can be a challenge. You must keep an eye on the water for boats and the sky for seaplanes landing.

When possible, seek shelter beneath the boardwalks.
