Entering Water Canyon Recreation Area.
Water Canyon Recreation Area is located in a dry, high desert with plenty of exposure.
There are several campsites and picnic areas with sun and shade.
Primitive camping includes picnic tables, grills and/or fire rings.
Rock features break up the rolling, grassy hills on either side of the recreation area.
Late afternoon brings comfortable shade to the hot desert.
It may look dry from a distance, but a small stream snakes through Water Canyon near most of the camp and picnic sites.
The riparian area is rare in this desert environment, and trees and shrubs harbor a number of bird types like woodpeckers, quail, and meadowlarks.
Clean pit toilets are available throughout the park.
