These are all photos of the lesser visited extremity lakes. The first of these is Tomahawk Lake. If you're a fisherman who enjoys a tasty Brook Trout, this lake is a must-stop.

At the far edge of Upper Silas, be on the lookout for the faint trail that will take you up the canyon to Island and Thumb Lakes. There are many trails so finding the right one (this one) is key.

Island Lake is the first you'll encounter. Follow the trail along this shore for easy lake access and stellar camping between this inlet and the next.

Island Lake is an idyllic little lake perfect for all manner of recreation, from camping and fishing to swimming and rafting.

In fact, it's a personal favorite of mine to packraft. Its interesting shape leads to all sorts of nooks and crannies to explore by way of water.

Just be warned: they don't call them the Wind River Mountains for nothing and a windy day can make paddling light craft a chore.

This shore is near some excellent camping and, boasting large rock cliffs with deep water below, makes for some of the best swimming and fishing.

If you look hard, you can see yet another small channel that leads to more lake beyond.

To continue hiking to Thumb Lake, get back on the trail and head toward these walls. Thumb Lake is nestled there.

All these lakes have plentiful fishing... so long as you learn what the fish in each prefer to bite on!
