One Ali'i Beach Park is one of two county-operated campgrounds on the island of Molokai.
From its central location just three miles east of Kaunakakai, One Ali'i contains spacious grounds and a structure with showers, covered picnic tables and flush bathrooms, along with a playground structure. The narrow strip of sandy beach is incredibly scenic, though the water tends to be shallow and cloudy here, so it's less than ideal for swimming.
However for camping, the area is large and owing to the few other visitors that the area receives, campers will likely find themselves with an almost private camping experience on a ledge perched over the shore with views of the island of Lanai across the channel.
Campers are required to obtain permits prior to setting up camp. Prices to camp for out of state visitors are $50 per adult per night Mondays-Thursdays, $100 per night Fridays-Sundays and holidays. The park is closed Wednesdays and Thursdays for weekly maintenance. To coordinate permits, campers can reach out to Molokai Parks District Supervisor Darin Kimoto at (808) 553-4178.
As this is the most central outdoor park area on Molokai, locals tend to visit at all hours. Those seeking the most quiet and private set ups should venture away from the parking areas and structures. Signs mark the designated camping areas, which give visitors an opportunity to wake up and unzip their tent to views of the water.
Campers must have a tent - hammocks and sleeping in vehicles is not permitted.
