This stunning hike between Ovindoli and Celano, in the Abruzzi Region of Central Italy, may not be one of the most popular trekking trails in the area, but the beauty of the landscape is absolutely breathtaking. The skyline of nearby mountains such as Monte Sirente, Monte Velino, and the surrounding area, can be admired throughout the trek, making this one of the most beautiful hikes in Central Italy.

The itinerary is rather easy and the path is very recognizable, especially if you are using a good map or a GPS track. It can be done with children too. The last part of the hike moving from the crest to the summit is a bit more difficult and steep, but with some careful attention, this is the perfect hike for families who want their children to admire the beauty of this part of the world. If you are lucky, you may to see majestic birds of prey flying in the sky as well as some wolf prints. Bushes of dog roses and expanses of wild saffron accompany trekkers throughout the way.

Thanks to its strategic position right above Piana del Fucino, the summit offers a 360-degree view above the valley and the surrounding mountains, among which. On a clear day visitors will see Gran Sasso, Maiella, Ernici, Simbruini, Monte Velino and Monte Sirente. The hike is a wonderful tour through the beauty of the Marsica, which is the name of this enchanting subregion of Abruzzi.
