This is a very peaceful and relaxing snowshoe route leading up Mount Terminillo and providing excellent views of the valley below. At just 1.5 hours away from Rome, it's perfect for those who come to visit the Eternal City and want some time nearby in the outdoors. You can rent snowshoes at the ski rental shops in Pian de' Valli for a few Euros per person.

The path is very obvious. Starting in Pian de' Valli, head toward the ski lifts. Cross the first ski runs heading right and reach Sella dei Venti, where the trailhead signs can be found. Simply follow the signs toward Rifugio la Fossa.

Club Alpino Italiano's red and white marks on trees and wooden sticks are very evident and help indicate the route. The path enters a beautiful, peaceful beech wood after a few kilometers. Silence and fresh snow will accompany you until you reach the shelter, which is actually closed in winter. The shelter stands in a stunning valley surrounded by the mountains, and it makes for an excellent stop for a short break before heading back along the same route.
