Playa Coral, also called El Mirador II, is a quiet shady beach area that presents a more park-like alternative to the playas and resort beaches of Cancun.

Lying south of the resort-dense Zona Hotelera area of Cancun, Playa Coral feels like a much quieter off-the-beaten-path public beach. The variety of trees here provide a lot of shade and a barrier to the coastal wind, while the water laps softly along palm-lined banks. The beach has a large cement plaza with plenty of benches, shaded picnic tables, bathrooms and outdoor showers, an observation tower, and lots of sandy areas both in and out of the shade for throwing out a blanket.

There are no waves here, and as such, the water tends to be still and not as colorful or clear as other area beaches. Playa Coral is open 24 hours a day. While the beach area is clean, there are no lifeguards here. Parking and access is free.
