The drive-in campground at Jay Cooke State Park is located east of Carlton, Minnesota and is across Minnesota Highway 210 from the River Inn Visitor Center. The campground at Jay Cooke State Park has a total of 79 sites. There are 21 sites that have electric hookups with 30-amp service or 50-amp service. Two of these sites are wheelchair accessible (one has electricity). In addition, there are four walk-in tents, two group sites, and five camper cabins. The walk-in sites are 50 to 150 feet from the parking spots. The campground is in a forest so most of the sites have good shade.

Each site has a fire ring and a picnic table. Firewood is available for sale at the park office. There is one pull through site at the campground. Dogs on a leash are allowed in the campground, except in the restroom and the camper cabins.

The campground has a bathroom and shower building as well as five vault toilets. There is a dump station near the campground. The campground is open year-round, but fresh water and the bathroom and shower building are only open during the warmer months. During the winter 12 sites are available for camping, five of those sites have electricity. All five camper cabins are open year-round.

In addition to the camping fees, there is a fee to enter the park; a day use or annual permit can be purchased at the park office.  All the sites can be reserved online or by phone. Jay Cooke State Park is a popular park, so camping spots get reserved quickly.

There are several trails that are accessible directly from the campground and the popular swinging bridge over the St. Louis River is a short walk away.
