The Lakeview Campground is one of two drive-in campgrounds at Father Hennepin State Park. The Lakeview Campground is located close to Mille Lacs Lake near the boat launch. This campground has a total of 62 sites. There are 41 sites that have electric hookups with a 50-amp service. There are two wheelchair accessible sites with electricity in the Lakeview Campground. The campground does have trees so most of the sites have partial shade or full shade. The majority of the sites in the Lakeview Campground are very close together so don’t expect much privacy. The advantage the Lakeview Campground has over the more spacious Maple Grove Campground is that it is closer to the lake and boat launch.
There is a swing set by the campground and a fish cleaning station. Each site has a fire ring and a picnic table. Firewood is available for sale at the park office as well as from private sellers near the park. All the sites in the campground are back-in sites and some can accommodate RVs up to 60 feet in length. Dogs on a leash are allowed in the campground, except in the restroom.
The campground has one bathroom with showers as well as one vault toilet. There is a dump station that serves both campgrounds that is available for use during the warm months. The campground is open from early April until late October.
In addition to the camping fees, there is a fee to enter the park; a day use or annual permit can be purchased at the park office. All the sites can be reserved online or by phone. Father Hennepin State Park is a popular park, so camping spots get reserved quickly.
