Oldenburg Point is located in Jay Cooke State Park near Carlton, Minnesota. The Oldenburg Point offers picturesque views of the St. Louis River valley from high above the river. Oldenberg Point is located one mile east of the popular swinging bridge area at Jay Cooke State Park and is on the south side of Minnesota Highway 210. There is a picnic area at Oldenburg Point with a stone pavilion that was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Since this picnic area is located in a state park, a fee must be paid to enter the park. A day use or annual permit can be purchased at the Park Office. From the picnic area it is a short walk (with some steps) to the scenic overlook of the St. Louis River. This overlook is a nice spot to watch the sunset.

For those interested in hiking, the trailhead for the 1.8-mile long Ogantz Trail loop is located at Oldenburg Point. Oldenburg Point is certainly not as popular with visitors as the areas of the St. Louis River near the swinging bridge, but it is easy to get to and is worth a stop.
