Indian Trees Campground is a nice, peaceful campground located within the Bitterroot National Forest, between Sula and Lost Trail Pass. The campground is named because of the many scarred trees in this area. Native Bitterroot and Salish used to peel away the bark on ponderosa pines to access the tree’s sweet, chewy cambium layer for food. While most of the trees here were peeled between 1835 - 1890 you can still see the visible scars today.

Recreational opportunities including hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding are available nearby including the Nez Perce National Historic Trail. The Lost Trail Hot Springs are also located less than a half mile form the campground.

Indian Trees offers 15 campsites. The campsites are nice with most offering shade and some privacy. You’ll find a picnic table and fire ring with grill at each site. Vault toilets and drinking water are also available within the campground.
