The Kimsey Creek Trail begins from Standing Indian Campground. It follows namesake Kimsey Creek for the entirety of the hike. The trail ends at Deep Gap. It can be hiked as an out-and-back or combined with the Appalachian Trail and Lower Trail Ridge to form a longer loop with an optional summit of Standing Indian Mountain.

The trail begins from just past the group campsites and can be a little tricky to locate initially.

The wide, double-track trail then follows the creek upstream. It’ll eventually narrow up to a standard single-track trail.

The trail stays underneath a dense hardwood forest for the remainder of the hike. You’ll continue following the lovely creek as it meanders through the forest.

The trail eventually comes out to Deep Gap where there is an upper trailhead. Just before this is a couple good backcountry campsites.

From the Gap you can return the way you came, or hop on the Appalachian Trail to continue hiking.
