Siler Bald is a 5,216’ summit located just off the Appalachian Trail near Franklin, NC. It can be accessed via Winding Stair Gap, but an even shorter option begins from the trailhead off Wayah Road at Wayah Gap.

From the Gap the hike follows the Appalachian Trail as it gradually gains elevation and climbs through the forest. Continue for 1.6 miles, then turn right onto the short Siler Bald Vista Trail.

You’ll continue climbing as you leave the forest behind and come to the summit of Siler Bald. Here there are fantastic 360 degree views to be had. There are also some campsites nearby if overnighting.

After you’ve enjoyed the vista, return the way you came back to the trailhead.
