Deer Park is a section of Allamuchy State Park.  It is in the southern half of the park and has far less visitor than the section to the north.  Park at Allamuchy Pond, near Rutherford Hall.  From the parking lot, follow the Deer Pond Trail on the left for 1.8 miles.  The trail has metal markers stating the name of the trail.  The Deer Pond Trail ends when it reaches the Deer Path Trail (white markers).

Turn left on the Deer Path Trail.  Stay on this trail for 4 miles at which point you reach a levy that creates Deer Pond.  Cross the levy and follow an additional 2 miles.  The Deer Path Trail ends on a forest road.  Turn left on the forest road and follow until you reach the start of the Birch Trail (yellow markers) on the right.  Stay on the Birch Trail until you reach the start on the Deer Path Trail.

Turn right on the Deer Path Trail and in about .5 miles, the trail reaches the Deer Pond Trail.  Turn left on the Deer Pond Trail and retrace yourself back to the trailhead.
