The Manaticut loop is located in the Wyanokie Mountains of Norvin Green State Forest.  There is no parking area at the trailhead, only street parking.  However, there is plenty of parking here because it is non residential section and the loop sees few visitors.

Take the Manaticut spur trail (yellow and black markers) for .3 miles until you reach the Manaticut loop.  The Manaticut Loop trail has yellow marks for the entire length.  Turn left and follow for .7 miles when you reach the first view point of Manaticut Point. In about another mile you will reach another good view point.

Shortly after decending from this last view point, the Manaticut loop is joined by the Overlook Rock trail (white markers). In .6 miles you reach Overlook Rock.  Here, the two trail split.  Stay right to keep on the Manaticut Loop trail.  The trail descends here until you reach Lake Sonoma. It is a little confusing here.  At the lake, the Manaticut Loop trail joins the Lake Sonoma trail (orange markers).  Turn right, keeping the lake to your left.

There is some nice views of the lake and recent drought conditions have revealed an old wooden boat.  After about a half mile, the Lake Sonoma trail breaks off to the left.  Stay straight on the Manaticut Loop trail for .65 miles until you reach the spur trail to the parking area.
