The Alto Eagle Creek Trail is a well maintained hiking path that loops around the Alto Lake Reservoir, along with green space downstream.
The trail has two distinct sections - tracing a relatively flat easy loop path around Alto Lake Reservoir with the option of descending down a hill into a slightly more moderate wooded valley. The lakeside portion is flat, with trees lining the path on one side, however the other side remaining bland and exposed. Several picnic benches sit at the far end of the lake.
Upon continuing downstream, the trail begins to pass through a little more diversity in environment. There are a couple bridges spanning the creek, and a maintained disc golf course also follows the trail, so warm weather hikers will likely encounter others using the path.
The trail is particularly scenic from Spring through Summer when there is a good amount of water flowing in the stream and the trees are green. An interesting rock formation near the far end of the loop is worth straying off trial to explore a little bit.
At 2.4 miles total, hikers can customize their route as there are a couple stream crossings that allow for shortening the hike is that is desired.
It should be noted that following area floods in 2024, this trail area was reopened in early 2025 and will likely go through rehabilitation efforts for the near future.
Vault toilets are available at the gravel parking area.
