The Joe Skeen Campground is located within the El Malpais National Conservation Area, which borders the El Malpais National Monument. The campground makes for a great base camp for anyone exploring the area. It is completely free to stay at Joe Skeen. Because of this the campground can fill up quickly, so be sure to arrive before evening to secure a site.

There are a total of 10 campsites at Joe Skeen Campground. The sites are quite nice, and feature a covered picnic table area, fire pit and grill. The shade structures are great as the summer days can get quite warm here.

You’ll find 2 vault toilets within the campground, but no other amenities.

Of course there are no reservations possible, all sites are free and first come first serve. Note that stays are limited to 7 days per month.
