Lower Lagunitas Campground is a small campground that is situated along the lovely Lagunitas Lakes at an elevation of over 10,000 ft. The setting is quite scenic and the easy lake access is a bonus (the lakes offer great fishing for brook and rainbow trout). The Cruces Basin Wilderness is next door and especially beautiful. Additionally, the Continental Divide Trail runs beside the lakes and offers miles of hiking opportunities.

Camping at lower Lagunitas is first come, first served and free. There are a handful of sites, some with good lake views. You’ll find a picnic table at each campsite. Amenities are few otherwise, but there is also a vault toilet within the campground.

Campsites are best for smaller trailers, or vans/car/tent campers. Access is via a long gravel road. The campground is, of course, snowed in during the winter months. Travel may also be difficult during spring months or when roads are wet.
