Cenote X’Canche consists of not just a cenote but also a small recreational area adjacent to the Ek Balam Archaeological Site. Reached by a 2-kilometer path just inside the Ek Balam entrance gate—visitors can opt to walk, rent a bicycle, or hire bicycle taxi—Cenote X’Canche is a large blue-water sinkhole with recreational opportunities surrounding it.
The cenote requires climbing down wooden stairs to the water level. Platforms for jumping and equipment such as life jackets for rent are also available, as is a short zip line, where you can glide over the water before dropping in from about 10 feet up.
Lockers are available for those bringing their own lock. The area also has a small restaurant, a shaded hammock area, several palapas where guests can eat in the shade, an adjacent campground and a zip line that crosses over the top of the cenote for an additional fee. Cenote X’Canche is open daily from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission is MX$150 per person. Bicycle rental and bicycle taxi cost an additional fee.
