The Thomas Rock Scenic Overlook provides sweeping views of Lake Superior and the surrounding forest. The Overlook is located near Big Bay, Michigan; from Marquette take CR 550 for 23 miles then take a left on CR 510. After about a mile on CR 510 the turn off for the parking lot will be on the right. There is rustic restroom facilities and picnic tables located by the parking area. There are no fees for parking.

The trail to Thomas Rock Scenic Overlook is a wide with crushed gravel and boardwalks. The trail is well maintained and is wheelchair accessible. The trail is a loop of less than a half mile that gains about 50 feet in elevation. Dogs are allowed on the trail of they are on a leash. The trail to Thomas Rock has interpretive signs that identify a variety of plants and animals along the way. Once you reach the Overlook there is the option to take is a set of stairs for a higher viewpoint, but taking these stairs is not necessary to get a great view. From the Overlook Lake Superior, Big Bay, and Lake Independence can be seen. The Keweenaw Peninsula can also be seen on a clear day.
