The Lower Palm Hills Loop trail is a winding loop path that climbs around the backcountry paths in the foothills at an easily accessible area in Palm Springs.

The hike begins at The Ramp, a wide trailhead with a good amount of parking just off of E. Palm Canyon Drive near the Vons. The Ramp is a gravel path that begins climbing from the parking lot into the foothills, accessing a few panoramic overlook points before wrapping around and meeting a vast network of single track trails. These goat paths weave and wind throughout the mountains, allowing hikers to venture as far into the interior as they would like.

This loop trail tends to stay near the first set of peaks, completing a 2.6 mile path. Along the route, the trail passes a couple higher overlooks, along with passing the remains of a horse corral deep in the rugged area, before finally tracing a steep series of switchbacks back down toward the main trailhead area.

There are no signs or trail markings, however cel service in this area is good, so hikers looking to follow this route should bring a GPS track for navigation, however they can also customize their route.

Hikers should be aware that there is no shade along the hike and no water or bathrooms at the trailhead. Hikers should prepare for hot conditions during the warm months. This trail sees a lot of traffic during the mornings and evenings.

Pedal bikes and horses are permitted, however E bikes and dogs are restricted. Citations have been given to hikers who bring dogs to this trail.

The parking area is open from 4am to 10pm daily.
