This loop hike is located in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, northeast of Phoenix.  Start at the Lost Dog Trailhead parking lot.  This is a sizeable lot with plenty of parking.  Start at the visitor center and follow the Lost Dog Wash trail going north. At .25 miles ther is a junction with the Anazasi Spur trail on the right.  Keep left to stay on the Lost Dog Wash trail.

After a little more than a half mile, the Ringtail trail will be on the right.  Turn here and follow the Ringtail trail.  After another half mile the trail reaches the Ringtail viewpoint.  Continue on for another 2 miles.  The Ringtail trail will follow a paved pathway and end on the Anazasi Spur trail.  Turn right on the Anazasi Spur and follow back to the Lost Dog Wash Trail.  Turn left and return to the parking lot.

This route is well marked and also marked for caution of a concentration of Rattlesnakes.
