The Jack Rabbit Trail Loop takes one of several trails located near the Rancho Mirage City Hall and Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage and makes a 1.5 mile loop with two sets of climbs and descents that lead to views across the Coachella Valley.

Beginning at the top of the parking area for Rancho Mirage City Hall, a clearly marked trail leads up a series of rock and dirt switchbacks about a quarter mile to a plateau with benches and shade structures looking over Highway 111 with views that stretch across the valley.

While the Jack Rabbit Trail as signed by the City of Rancho Mirage Parks Dept is an out and back trail, taking a fork onto another heavily used path can create a nice loop path. From the benches and trail fork, the path follows a slope downward, before forking off back toward a climb. There are several rocky overlook points and picturesque promontories along the path. At 1.5 miles, the path is relatively short, but can get hot during the warmer months, with no shade along the way.

There are a couple unsigned forks along this path, as well as other defined trails heading to other areas, so navigation is helpful heading into this hike.

Those looking to add a little bit more distance can opt to continue onto the Mirada Trail System Loop which incorporates a portion of the Jack Rabbit Trail.

Trails and parking are open from 6am to 9pm daily. There is no water or bathrooms along the hike however both are located inside the City Hall building.
