Verdi's Crystal Peak Park lies near the end of a dead end road, nestled by a bend in the Truckee River.
The Interpretive Trail is a short, easy loop path the circles the central interior of the park, with signage along the way describing the history of the area as well as species and varieties of flora and fauna living in the environment.
Having been the site of, most notably, the Verdi Glen Resort and a timber mill, there are a few scattered ruins of both visible along the trail. Numerous fires were to blame to the mill closing down, and what remains today is a large peaceful area of land where locals then to head when they'd like a quiet stroll.
Leaving the parking area and descending beneath a traffic bridge, Crystal Peak Park offers picnic benches and bathrooms, and the area is surrounded by scenic slopes of the Sierra Nevada range. Several small paths branch off of the main trail leading to small sandy areas along the river, as well as the trail heading toward two scenic ponds with small docks for fishing and benches placed in the shade around the perimeter.
The trail is mostly flat, and makes a quiet escape not too far from Reno's urban center.
Crystal Peak Park is open from dawn to dusk. Flush bathrooms, benches and horseshoe pits are located in the park along the trail.
