The North Valleys Loop is 2.4 miles of dirt single track beginning at the eastern edge of North Valleys Regional Park and weaving uphill into green space with wide views at the top.

Having felt relatively distant from the rest of development until recently, North Valleys Regional Park is a little less off the beaten path these days and more a welcome area of protected land in the quickly-developing area. This trail is open to hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians, however it tends to remain pretty quiet and you may very well not see another person on the paths during your visit.

The path is a series of loops that weave into the sage brush and soon climb the hill dominating the near landscape, so it's very easy to customize your route by completing one of the shorter loops and skipping the climb altogether. However the moderate climb leads to high views straddling the north valleys area as well as Lemmon Valley to the east, with a bench at the high point offering views of Swan Lake and the surrounding mountainous landscape to the north. The views here are definitely worth the climb.

Hikers should be warned that there is no shade or protection from the elements along the hike. Bathrooms and water, as well as parking are located inside North Valleys Regional Park. Future plans aim to connect the North Valleys trails with a greater interconnected trail network throughout the Truckee Meadows area.
