Sierra Vista Mountain Bike Park is set on the former grounds of a golf course. Following the course's closure, local residents and the City of Reno partnered to purchase the land and preserve it as public green space.

On those 206 acres, numerous trails have been groomed and carved out to accommodate all ability levels - from a green level route of wide hard packed sand that circles the upper half of the property, to blue rated fast flow downhill with a fun amount of embankments and small jumps. There are also some larger ramps, tables and planks perched over steep downhills to drop into some of the trails.

The easy trail circling the park is 1.75 miles in length, and is popular for people out hiking or taking their dogs for a walk. This trail creates the main artery from which all of the other routes fork off from. A map sits in the parking area - the site of the old golf course clubhouse - however the trails are mostly unsigned, so it takes some experimenting to learn the routes. Since there are several downhill paths spanning the length of the park area, it's possible to use the main trail to ride uphill and then fork onto a different route to head down.

Throughout the park are old double tracks that were once paths for the golf carts. Most of these are graveled, and bisect many of the trails and can act as shortcuts across the park.

While the course isn't big, there are 20+ total miles of trails here, with future plans to link the park to other trail systems in the Peavine Mountain area.

The trails climb the hills of northwest Reno, opening up to views of the Sierra towering above the higher housing developments.

In addition there is a pump track located next to the main parking area. Also at the parking area is a bike stand and tools with pump, placed as an Eagle Scout project. Several vault toilets are located throughout the park.

Sierra Vista Mountain Bike Park is open from sunrise to sunset.
