This hike incorporates two separate loops and returns to the original trailhead. Trailhead parking is along Campbell Road.  Walk through the gate for School Mountain Road (white trail markers), which is now a wide trail. School Mountain Road travels along Clove Creek with several crossings.  Recent bridges have been constructed by the cadets from West Point Military Academy.  Follow the road for about .5 miles to a creek crossing.  This is the only crossing that does not have a bridge.  Several I-beams lay across the creek, reminants of an old bridge contructed when vehicles used the road.  On the left is the start of the Hubbard Loop Trail (Yellow trail markers).  There is two stone ornate pillars at the entrance.  The Hubbard Loop trail is another forest road.  Follow the Hubbard Loop trail for .9 miles where the trail ends back onto School Mountain Road.  Turn left on School Mountain Road for .3 miles when the road meets another creek crossing.  The East Mountain Loop Trail (Red trail markers) is on the left and set back off the trail a little.  Cross the small bridge and begin the climb up East Mountain.

Follow the East Mountain Trail for 1.6 miles.  It will end back on School  Mountain Road.  Turn right on School Mountain Road and follow for 2 miles back to the trailhead.
