The trailhead has parking for about 5 cars only, located on Mine Hill Road.  The trail begins across the street, uphill a little from the parking area.  There is a sign above on the hill. To access the loop, the trail from the road is called Mine Hill trail (yellow markers).  Follow this up a steep hill with one switchback until you reach Sackett Ridge. Turn left on the Sackett trail (yellow markers) and follow for nearly 1.5 miles until you reach the Stillman trail (Yellow Markers).

Turn right on the the Stillman Trail.  The Highland Trail (torquios markers) follows the same path as the Stillman trail in this section.  Stay on the Stillman trail for one mile.  Watch for an unmarked trail on the left near a Compartment trail on the right (blue markers).  This unmarked trail leads to Split Rock view point.  After the view point, the Stillman trail turns right and follows the same path as the Compartment trail now.

In a short distance you reach a "shortcut trail" to Stillman viewpoint (yellow triangle markers).  Follow this to the Stillman trail, turning left to the viewpoint.  retrace back out from the viewpoint.  It is about one mile back the the Sackett Trail, which will lead back to the Mine Hill Trail and the trailhead.
