This loop hike does not have any view points.  It is a nice, quiet hike through an old growth forest.  School Mountain road is lined with old stone walls which is interesting.

The north trailhead for School Mountain Rd only has room for 1-2 car off the road.  There is some parking along the road but it is a narrow gravel road in this section.  Take School Mountain Rd (white markers) for 2.2 miles.  At this point, there is a junction with the East Mountain Loop trail and Perkins Trail (yellow markers).  Turn left on the Perkins Trail and follow for one mile.  At the .5 mile mark, the Fahnstock Trail (blue markers) shares the Perkins Trail path for .5 miles.

After this last .5 miles, the Perkins trail turns right and the Fahnstock trail turns left.  Turn left following the Fahnstock trail for .75 miles until the juntion with the start of the Clove Creek trail (white makers).  Turn onto the Clove Creek trail and follow for 1.4 miles until it ends at a junction with the Trout Brook Trail and the Wiccopee Trail (blue markers).  Turn left on the Wiccopee trail for 1 mile where it ends on School Mountain Rd.  Turn right on School Mountain Rd and in .5 miles, the trail reaches the trailhead.
