The Gathering Place opened in 2018 and is a 65-acre park along the Arkansas River in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  The Gathering Place is an open space for people to enjoy the outdoors.  The location allows for Tulsans and visitors to have access to the outdoors in the heart of the city all free of charge.  The riverfront park allows for activities all times of the year.  This park is great for families to take walks along the paved footpaths or enjoy the massive playgrounds.

Park goers can start at the adventure playground that houses a playground with pirate ships and castle towers.  Children can also wander through a mirror maze and there are plenty of slides for everyone to enjoy.  In summer months, families can enjoy Mist Mountain as an attraction to beat the heat and there are interactive fountains and mist areas to keep the family cool.

On the south end of the park there are sports courts and a skate park where people can enjoy their time.  Also on the south end there are the riverside swings to enjoy.  There are also plenty of gardens in the park including the Four Seasons and Sky Gardens on the South End, the Great Lawn that is centrally located and the Wetland Gardens on the north side of the park. One other feature of the park is Peggy’s Pond and the adjacent Boathouse.  Park goers are able to rent paddle boats or canoes from the boathouse to enjoy an afternoon on the pond.

There are many learning opportunities for families that include self-guided adventures that can be downloaded from the park’s website.  The guides include scavenger hunts, wellness guides, and horticulture tours.

The Gathering Place is an incredible outdoor spot for the community of Tulsa and there are so many opportunities for families to enjoy the outdoors.
