This short loop hike along the Deschutes River Trail is known as the Loggers Loop. Although fairly urban in nature, this loop still provides much beautify as you walk alongside the river. The loop can also be extended in either direction if desired.

There are serval different access points where the loop can be started. In this guide we’ll begin from Riverbend Park and hike in a counter-clockwise direction.

From the parking area you’ll head east along a paved pathway as it follows near the river. Turn left at the footbridge and cross the river.

You’re now in Farewell Bend Park. A short boardwalk leads out to the river through a natural marsh area and is well worth checking out. This is a great spot to enjoy the beauty of the river or birdwatch.

Continue along the paved pathway as you leave the park and walk in front of a residential area. You’ll then cross under Southwest Columbia Street through a beautifully painted underpass.

You’re now in the Old Mill District. This cool part of town has many shops and eateries to explore, so a quick diversion from trail may be in order!

Continue along until you reach another footbridge. Cross the river then turn left.

The trail continues and again crosses under Southwest Columbia Street before arriving back at Riverbend Park where you first started.
