The McGregor Memorial Viewpoint is located within La Pine State Park and offers a beautiful view of a sweeping bend in the Deschutes River. Newberry Volcano can also be seen in the distance.

To access the viewpoint, follow the State Park Road until it crosses the Deschutes River, then turn right on the paved road that leads to a parking area. From here it is just a quick stroll to the viewpoint. Alternately, you could hike the 1.5 mile McGregor Trail for a longer adventure.

The viewpoint is named after Donald G. McGregor and recognizes his “many contributions to the betterment of Oregon’s scenic and recreational resources.” The memorial was dedicated in 1973. There is also a picnic table here making for a nice spot to take a lunch break and enjoy the view.
