Mill Trailhead to Vee Lake Campground is a 35.4 mile round trip route that leads through the scenic expanse of Fremont National Forest, tracing the southern part of the Fremont National Recreation Trail (FNTR).

From Mill Trailhead, the route stretches east and north, crossing the Warner Mountains, to Vee Lake Trailhead/Campground northeast of Lakeview, Oregon (the route can also be reversed).

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy plant and wildlife viewing on the trail, which is open to hiking, trail running, mountain biking, horseback riding, backpacking, and camping. After crossing the Warner Mountains, this route ends at the Vee Lake Trailhead/Campground.

The trail follows the Crooked Creek drainage, passing through stands of mixed conifers, including ponderosa pines. Continuing north, the trail ascends and winds along the slopes of Twelvemile Peak, McDowell Peak, and Crook Peak. Quick out-and-back detours to these summits offer stunning panoramic views in every direction.

From Crook Peak, the trail accesses Swale Trailhead before descending into Honey Creek drainage, revealing unique geology including colorful rock outcrops and cliffs.

After leaving Honey Creek, the trail climbs up to Vee Lake.

The Vee Lake Trailhead/Campground is situated in the North Warner Mountains and features scenic views of the Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge.

It is a moderately rated route that can be easily adjusted in length to meet the needs of the hiker. This route may be hiked in any season, depending on weather, however, spring and early summer are ideal times to enjoy the beautiful wildflowers and abundant butterflies found in the Warner Mountains.

Along this route, you will pass through high elevation forests, meadows, and rocky terrain. It is also home to a diverse population of wildlife, including mule deer, elk, black bears, mountain lions, coyotes, bobcats, small mammals, and birds.
