The Waldo Lakes Wilderness is a federally protected area in Oregon's Cascade Mountains. The area covers approximately 37,162-acres of the Willamette National Forest and is managed by the United States Forest Service.
This wilderness area is home to numerous lakes, including Six Lakes Basin, Eddeeleo Lakes, and Quinn Lakes, as well as Waldo Lake, Oregon's second largest natural lake and the area's namesake.
Approximately 98% of the Waldo Lake Wilderness area is forested with Douglas-fir, mountain hemlock, and Pacific silver fir.
RECREATION OPPORTUNITIES
Popular recreation activities include hiking, backpacking, and camping. Waldo Lakes Wilderness offers 84 miles of trails that lead to a number of beautiful lakes and meadows.
PERMITS
Between Memorial Day and October 31, self-issued permits are required.
