The campground at Rocky Point Recreation Area is located about 8 miles east of Belle Fourche off South Dakota Highway 212. This drive-in campground has a total of 62 sites; five of those sites are group sites. All the sites except the group sites have electric hookups with 30-amp and 50-amp service. Three of the sites are handicap accessible. Most of the sites are near the Belle Fourche Reservoir. There are also two one-bedroom cabins available for rent.

The campground is quite open with mowed grass between the sites; there are some trees but not enough to offer good shade. Most of the electric sites are fairly close together. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. All the non-group sites in the campground are back-in sites. The pads are gravel and can accommodate RVs up to 65 feet in length. Dogs on a leash are allowed in the campground.

The campground has a bathroom with showers as well as vault toilets. There is a dump station near the entrance to the Rocky Point Recreation Area. The campground is open year-round; between October. 1 and April 30, showers, flush toilets and other water systems may be shut down.

Most of the recreational activities enjoyed at Rocky Point Recreation Area center around the Belle Fourche Reservoir. The water activities enjoyed by visitors include swimming, canoeing, kayaking, boating, and fishing. The park has a fish-cleaning station and two boat launches with large parking areas. There is a shore fishing area located on the east side of the park. Other amenities found at Rocky Point Recreation Area include a fenced-in dog park, a playground, an archery range, horse shoe pits, a volleyball court, and sheltered picnic areas.

In addition to the camping fees, there is a fee to enter the park; a day use or annual permit can be purchased when you enter the park. All the sites can be reserved online or by phone. The campground often is full on weekends during the summer.
